The secret to the success of this old family favourite is using good quality sausages. I sometimes replace the onions with sliced mushrooms or use a mixture of both.
Ingredients: 8 sausages of your choice 2 onions, chopped finely 2 cups beef stock 2 tbsp plain flour 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp minced garlic
Method: • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). • Scatter the onions in an ovenproof dish that will fit the sausages snugly but with a little gap between each sausage. • Place the sausages on top of the onions. • Combine the beef stock, flour, Worcestershire sauce and garlic, then pour over the sausages. • Bake for 30 minutes, then give everything a good stir and turn the sausages so can they brown on the other side. • Bake for a further 15 minutes until the sausages are golden. • Serve with mashed potatoes.
